Ugly singing

Tonight Savannah said, "Mom? If I'm ever in primary and I hear a kid singing ugly, I'll say, 'You have very ugly singing, but I'd like to be your friend anyway!"

Isn't she nice?

Later, she was praying and she said, "And Heavenly Father, I really want to be a good girl.  But, sometimes I make mistakes.  But, that's okay because I'll just get baptized and the mistakes will all go away!"

She seemed a bit too excited about that...

Frozen Obsessed

Over the very busy holidays that involved me getting strep throat twice and a freaking staph infection in my thumb, Frozen came to theaters.

We've seen it twice. And Savannah is obsessed with the music!

For example:

And

I think singing together is my favorite part of parenting.

The First Runaway Attempt

Last time Savannah got mad at Corey she said, "Dad!  I never, ever want to see you again!"  He said, "Well, we'll miss you.  Good luck!"  She stormed angrily into the next room.  Literally 2 minutes later she walks back in and says, "I guess I want to see you again.  Want to play a game?"  She obviously meant business.

The most hated part

Today, we had the same standard fight over Lily and the stuffed kitties.  After Savannah tried to hold her down and hurt her, she was sent to time out and told no more kitties for the rest of the day.  This of course angered her and she started sputtering about hatred again.  We've talked a lot about how hating people isn't okay, so she was trying.

As she was trying to finish her sentence, I asked, "You hate consequences?"

"Well, yes, of course I hate consequences! You know that!  But, I also hate your, your, your socks!"

Ouch.

Naming the Dog

We got a puppy!

The girls love the puppy, the puppy loves the girls, it's wonderful.

Corey and I went and looked at the puppy without the girls.  We didn't want Savannah to meet a bad dog and then be shattered when we didn't get it. We went and the first puppy we saw was HYPER.  I was getting worried.  Then we met the other one.  She is so sweet and mellow.  I fell in love.  On the way home, I told Corey we had to pick her name then and there or Savannah would take it over instantly and when she names her toys she calls them things like "Ma moo" and "Nee naw".  So, we picked Luna (after Luna Lovegood).

We brought the puppy to the girls.  They were both so excited!  Savannah started hugging and kissing and saying,

"Before I had my own puppy, I always wanted a puppy just like this puppy!"

And then she said,

"I can't believe it! I haven't even thought of what I am going to name my puppy! Hmm, what's a good name? Hmmm, hmmm.  I know! 'Flower!' That's a perfect name for her!"

Corey and I exchanged looks and he said, "What do you think about the name Luna Flower?"

She said, "I like it!"

We're just glad the dog isn't named "Troe Mee".

The Haircut

My hair has been long and brown for a long time.  But, I wanted a change.  So, I warned Savannah that I might make my hair short and blonde.  She seemed fine with it.

I got brave and I chopped it off and highlighted it!  I was so excited to come home and show my family.  I walked in and heard:

"Nooooooooooo!  You can't be blonde!  Go back to brown! Go back to brown! I hate your hair so much!!!"

I kind of just ignored her.  Then she found the ponytail that I brought home to donate and followed me around with it sobbing that she wanted me to glue it back on.

Bargaining away the baby

Savannah has been super into building with blocks lately.  She loves building elaborate "towns".  One day, Lily found a town and quickly demolished it.  Normally, I make a comment about her being a monster or something and we laugh about it, but not this time.  Savannah was beyond upset.  She was sobbing uncontrollably as I tried to calm her down.  Then she said,

"I'm going to put Lily in the garbage!"

"Savannah, you can't.  Think about how sad she would be in the garbage; she would really miss her family."

"Fine.  You go find her a new family with a mom, dad, and big sister."

"I'm not going to do that either;  I love her too much."

"Mom!  These are the choices!  You either find her a new family, or I will throw her in the garbage.  She will go to the dump and burn forever (someone has been watching too much Toy Story 3...).  What do you choose?!?"

We instead chose to give her some space until she decided to keep her sister around.
